Creating a memorial

Introduction

A brief introduction to creating a memorial can be found here. Please read the introduction first before continuing with this tutorial.

Necessary information

Your memorial should contain the following information:-

  • Details of your loved one who has passed on (including full name, date of birth and date of passing).

  • Your message.

  • Memories which you wish to share.

  • Photos which you wish to share.

  • Your contact details, if you would like others to be able to contact you.

Formatting

Please feel free to use the formatting options available at the toolbar located at the top of the editor window. These will allow you to create headings for the different sections in your memorial, bold or underline certain key phrases, align different sections, etc. There is even a spellchecker function available.

Photos

To insert photos, click on the “Upload” tab near the bottom of the page. Click on the “Browse” button and select the photo you wish to insert, then click on the “Upload” button.

Choose whether you wish to display a thumbnail of the photo, the full-sized photo itself or the title of the photo, then click on “Send to editor”.

Multiple photos can be inserted into your memorial. The placement of photos is determined by the position of your cursor in the editor window when you click on “Send to editor”. Photos can be aligned using the formatting options in the advanced toolbar at the top of the editor window.

Audio

To insert an mp3 file into your memorial (so that the mp3 file automatically starts playing when someone views the memorial), just insert the command [ audio:image url|autostart=yes|loop=yes] (without the spaces). If you don’t want the mp3 file to start automatically (i.e. the viewer must click on the player first) or to loop automatically, then just remove the appropriate section from the command.

For example, if the mp3 file is located at http://www.theeternalcandle.com/audio/tribute.mp3, just insert the command [ audio:http://www.theeternalcandle.com/audio/tribute.mp3| autostart=yes| loop=yes] (without the spaces), and the player will appear as follows:

You can also have a sequence of mp3 files played. Simply use commas to separate the links to the mp3 files.

Please note that the mp3 file has to be hosted online already. If you would like us to host the mp3 file, please contact us here.

Youtube video

To insert a youtube video into your memorial, just insert the command [ youtube=http://www.youtube.com/video url] (without the spaces).

For example, if the youtube video is located at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHWhlN5j6QY, just insert the command [ youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHWhlN5j6QY] (without the spaces) and the video appears as follows:

<a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=UHWhlN5j6QY" onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outbound/article/youtube.com');">http://youtube.com/watch?v=UHWhlN5j6QY</a>

Html

If you are proficient in html, please feel free to use the “Code” tab for the editor window so that all html functions/commands can be used for your memorial.
