Tanuhardja, Mike ‘Hok Bie’
Dearest Uncle Hok Bie,
Given our locations at opposite ends of the world, I regretfully never had the chance to really develop that kind of close relationship uncles and nephews often enjoy. That said, I’m grateful that I at least had those few opportunities to meet you and get to know you a little better.
The countdown to 2007 was very likely the best countdown to a new year I have ever experienced. The unabashed raucous beauty of the fireworks on your street in Hengelo was unforgettable, and matched only by the quiet warmth and joy in your home.
I will always remember your warmth and hospitality in welcoming my family and I into your home, your quiet wry sense of humour, your penchant for not smiling when taking a picture (so very similar to my dad and I… *grin*). But of course, we all knew that your often serious exterior was merely a cover for that mischievous delightful joker inside of you - the hint of that endearing grin and smile would always be nearby.
Thank you so much for everything. I only wish that we had had more time. You will always be remembered and missed…

Glad I got to know you. Wonderful and happy memories. I will always remember your kindness and jokes and the times that you, Sanny and I used to hang out together during our careless years. Rest in peace my friend.

God looked around His Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon His earth and saw your loving face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
When we saw you sleeping so calm and peacefully,
He whispered to you “Peace be Thine” and gave you wings to fly.
You’ve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide.
You live on through your children, you’re always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.

Till The End Of Time
It doesn’t matter what happened in the past,
Because what we have, it’s gonna last.
You make us smile,
Your worth our while.
You let us know how you feel,
Which lets us know you’re the real deal.
You let us see, what you mean to us,
Without you, who knows where we’d be ?
When we are not with you, we feel blue,
Whoever knew, our love would be true ?
When we think of you,
There’s no other clue,
How much we love and care for you.
In so little time, we made you ours,
And we’re gonna last, till the end of time !
Sadly Missed And Always Remembered By All Your Friends & Loved Ones.
