Rachel Lyn “Rachie” Berkowitz was born into our hearts along with her twin sister prematurely on December 20, 2003. At 25 weeks gestation her tiny body fought a battle to live and grow. She has touched all of our hearts through family, friends and strangers. Rachie will always be remembered as the lil angel who brightened all our days. After fighting to live for 15 months, Rachie finally got to rest her weary head and join the countless angels in heaven. Her body is whole now and her soul lives on through her twin sister and older brother. She leaves behind her parents and extended family as well as her surrogate family on the Preemie Forum.

Moby Kachaturian was the lead vocalist of the “Chablais” in the mid-60’s in S. California. My boyfriend, Darryl, was the guitar player in the group. He and Moby had been best friends since they were 14 years old.Moby died of cancer. From the time of diagnosis to the time of his death was about one month. We were able to go visit him in California a couple of times during his illness.

before you left to go

Dearest Grandpa,

I truly wish that we had had the chance to get to know each other better. Unfortunately, given that I grew up so many thousands of miles away from you, it was not to be.

But I will always treasure those times when we met and chatted, no matter how brief or infrequent those times were. I am so sorry that I was not able to make it to your funeral, and I will live with this regret forever. I will never forget you, and I will always try to honour your memory.

my dear friend…

too many people refer to a friend as bro, and many a time, i have complained about some random friend or acquaintance doing so. yet in this case, you truly were like a brother to me.

you never let me down and always had my back. i always knew that i could count on you to be there. i’m sorry that in your last days, it wasn’t possible for me to be there next to you, but always know that my thoughts and prayers were and always will be with you.

we have walked many paths and crossed many bridges together. we’ve come a long way, and i’m sad that we had to part ways at this stage. but i know that you are in heaven looking down on family and friends and keeping an eye on us all.

i will always remember your warmth, your friendship and your love…

umm-ah…

when i was growing up, you were always the one who looked out for me. you made sure that i was never hungry. you comforted me whenever i had been scolded and punished. you were always nearby with a smile and a hug.

we shared so many laughs, smiles and even tears. good times and bad, we had seen them all. it broke my heart and soul when it was your time to leave this world. i truly wish that god had given us more time.

these days, whenever life gets tough, i remember the lessons you taught me, the example you set, and i strive to go on. when times are good, i miss you even more, and wish that you could still be by my side to share in my joy and happiness.

i am who i am today because of you. thank you for helping me out whenever i needed it, for showing me what’s important in life, for taking care of me, and most of all, for loving me. i will never forget and i will never stop loving you.

Dearest Uncle Hok Bie,

Given our locations at opposite ends of the world, I regretfully never had the chance to really develop that kind of close relationship uncles and nephews often enjoy. That said, I’m grateful that I at least had those few opportunities to meet you and get to know you a little better.

The countdown to 2007 was very likely the best countdown to a new year I have ever experienced. The unabashed raucous beauty of the fireworks on your street in Hengelo was unforgettable, and matched only by the quiet warmth and joy in your home.

I will always remember your warmth and hospitality in welcoming my family and I into your home, your quiet wry sense of humour, your penchant for not smiling when taking a picture (so very similar to my dad and I… *grin*). But of course, we all knew that your often serious exterior was merely a cover for that mischievous delightful joker inside of you - the hint of that endearing grin and smile would always be nearby.

Thank you so much for everything. I only wish that we had had more time. You will always be remembered and missed…

Wayne “Thunder” Seah

1977 - 2007

I only met Wayne a few times many years ago. But just through those few meetings, I could tell that he was an exceptional guy with great dreams and aspirations.

Through the years, I would come across news articles relating to Wayne… from the boredphucks… to the boredpucks…. to the suns…

It was truly heartening to see that a select few had managed to make a difference to the local music scene, and even expand their influence overseas.

And it was therefore with great sadness that I learnt the news of Wayne’s passing. Visit his personal memorial website at http://www.waynethunder.com/ and you’ll see that a great number felt the same way.

The terrible and sad loss was felt by one and all. But perhaps as they say, only the good die young…

Dude… Rock on and know that there are many keeping your music, dreams and ideals alive!
