He was only 4 days away from getting his degree from college..  May he rest in peace.

Mary was born on October 10, 1920 and raised in Clairton, Pennsylvania.

Preceded in death by her parents John and Julia (Bindas) Skolnik, her loving husband Louis Bernard Trocheck (2003), her daughter, Lorraine Trocheck (1984), brother Stephen Skolnik and sisters Katherine Thunhurst, Agnes Melcher and Julia Skolnik.

On September 6, 1947 she married the man of her dreams at St Joseph Church in Clairton, PA. In 1948 they moved to Gary, IN and moved to Merrillville in 1975. Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She leaves to cherish many precious memories: three daughters: Francine (John) Schafer of Hickory Hills, IL, Bernice (Russell) Melton of Crown Point, IN and Julie Trocheck of Merrillville, IN; two grandsons: Michael (Maria) Schafer of San Francisco, CA, Matthew (Dana) Schafer of Chicago, IL; great-grandson, Alexander Schafer of San Francisco, CA; brothers: John (Hazel) Skolnik of West Melbourne, FL, Andrew (Nancy) Skolnik of Belle Vernon, PA; sister-in-law, Helen (late Paul) Trocheck of Cleveland, OH. She will also be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.

Mary was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Rosary Sodality, and Senior Citizens Group and SS. Peter & Paul Harvest House. Mary was also a member of St. Stephen, Martyr Church and a former member of St. Mark Church. She was a very bright, resilient, independent, diligent and loyal woman who, with her husband, was active in her church and with her family. Mary and Louis led a full life with a wide circle of loyal friends, including her Glen Park Bunco Club friends and neighbors of 56+ years. While raising her four girls, Mary was active with their schooling, Girl Scouts and CYO activities. Her colorful, affecting personality lives on in her three most individual daughters. She was a member of Slovak Club, Slovak Catholic Federation and the Slovak Jednota Branch #581, Knights of Columbus Wives #4047 Council and Pruzin Center Senior Citizens Exercise Group. Mary was a retired employee of Margo’s Catering. The family wishes to thank her doctors and employees of St. Anthony Hospital for their loving care of Mary in her final days.
